Uniform is a broad-spectrum preventative fungicide used for the control of many soilborne plant diseases. It contains two active ingredients: azoxystrobin (28.2%) and mefenoxam (10.9%). It is designed for use in specified field and vegetable crops, specifically applied as an in-furrow application at planting to control pre- or post-emergence damping off and diseases that infect plants at the soil-plant interface. The product has systemic properties. Technicians should note that Uniform is extremely phytotoxic to certain apple varieties; extreme care must be taken to avoid spray drift to prevent injury to apple trees and fruit. It should not be applied through any type of irrigation equipment. Due to its potential for runoff and impact on surface water quality, avoid applications when rainfall or irrigation is expected to occur within 48 hours. Resistance management is critical; the product should be integrated into an overall disease management strategy and should not be alternated or tank-mixed with fungicides to which resistance has already developed.
