ReTain is a plant growth regulator (PGR) containing 15% w/w (wt/w) (S)-trans-2-amino-(4-ethoxyoxy)-3-butenoic acid hydrochloride. It is designed to manage fruit and vegetable growth, specifically targeting harvest timing and fruit quality. It is used on a variety of crops including apples, pears, peaches, nectarines, plums, apricots, stone fruits, pecans, walnuts, cucumbers, and certain cucurbits. For many crops, it helps delay fruit maturity, increase time for color development, maintain fruit firmness, and improve fruit quality. It can also be used on cucumbers to increase the likelihood of yellowing in cucurbit seedlings for seed production. Application methods include spray applications using calibrated equipment like air blast sprayers. Users should note that ReTain is a soluble powder that must be mixed in a water-soluble bag. Handling requires personal protective equipment (PPE) including long sleeved shirts, long pants, shoe covers, and waterproof gloves. Always perform a compatibility test before mixing with other products and follow specific dilution rates for each crop to avoid injury or ineffective results.

• Avoid applications during the heat of the day.
• Maintain soil pH between 6 and 8.

Use restrictions 4

• Do not apply to areas where surface water is present or to intertidal areas below the mean high water mark.
• Do not apply ReTain to stone fruit (except cherry) if it is expected to be highly stressed by heat, water, disease, or insect.
• For cucumber seed production, do not apply directly to cucurbit seedlings; apply to the breeding line instead.
• Do not use ReTain for human animal consumption.
