Actara is an insecticide containing 25.0% Thiamethoxam, classified under Group 4A. It is designed for the control of certain insect pests that infest listed crops. The product is available as a water-dispersible granule. It works through contact and ingestion, making it effective against sucking and chewing insects. Users must be extremely cautious regarding pollinators; this product can kill bees and other insect pollinators if applied while they are foraging or if it drifts onto blooming crops/weeds. Application restrictions apply to protect pollinators, including timing and site-specific instructions. For environmental safety, avoid application near water or in areas where runoff could impact aquatic invertebrates or groundwater. When handling, personal protective equipment (PPE) is required, including long-sleeved shirts, long pants, chemical-resistant gloves (Category A, e.g., natural rubber ≥ 14 mils), and shoes plus socks. Always follow the Worker Protection Standard (WPS) and observe the 12-hour restricted-entry interval (REI) for treated areas. Note that sale and use are prohibited in Nassau and Suffolk counties of New York.
