Python Herbicide is a specialized herbicide designed for use in labeled clover grown for seed. It is a FIFRA Section 24(c) Special Local Need (SLN) label intended for distribution and use only within the State of Oregon. The active ingredient is Flumetsulam at a concentration of 80.0%. This product is used to control labeled broadleaf weeds, specifically including Brassicaceae species, Dock species, and Mayweed Chamomile. It is applied to various clover types including Red, White, Berseem, Balansa, and Crimson clover at different growth stages. For Red Clover grown for seed, it is applied during the preemergence to the four-trifoliate leaf stage. For Crimson, Berseem, and Balansa clover, it is applied at the two-trifoliate leaf stage or larger. For Red and White clover, it is applied during the four-trifoliate leaf stage to fully established stages between November 1 and March 1. When applying, users should include a non-ionic surfactant at a rate of 25% volume/total volume. Note that postemergence applications may result in temporary chlorosis or yellowing of the clover leaves. Users must follow specific crop rotation intervals and restrictions regarding the use of the resulting seed for food or feed, as this pesticide does not have an established pesticide residue tolerance for these crops.
