AZTEC® HC is a higher concentration granular insecticide designed for use exclusively with the SmartCartridge™ system. It contains two active ingredients: Tebupirimphos (8.90%) and Cyfluthrin (0.44%). This product is formulated to control corn rootworms, cutworms, and other soil-injected pests in corn crops. It is intended for use in field corn, sweet corn, popcorn, and corn grown for seed or silage. Application methods include BAND (7-inch band over the row), T-BAND (4 to 5-inch T-band over the seed furrow), and IN-FURROW (directly into the seed furrow). Because it is a restricted-use pesticide, it must be applied by certified applicators. Handling requires specific personal protective equipment (PPE), including long-sleeved shirts, long pants, chemical-resistant gloves (Barrier Laminate, Butyl Rubber, Nitrile, Neoprene, Polyethylene, Polyvinyl Chloride, or Viton), and chemical-resistant footwear. The product is toxic to aquatic invertebrates and should not be applied directly to water or near aquatic sites unless following specific in-furrow or T-band application restrictions to minimize runoff.
