Lexar EZ is a preemergence herbicide used for the control of annual grass and broadleaf weeds. It is formulated for use in field corn, seed corn, sweet corn, yellow popcorn, and grain sorghum. The product contains three active ingredients: S-metolachlor (19.00%), Atrazine (18.81%), and Mesotrione (2.44%). It is designed to manage weeds by interfering with plant germination and seedling development. Because it contains atrazine, this product is classified as a Restricted Use Pesticide due to concerns regarding ground and surface water. Users must follow specific instructions to minimize the potential for atrazine to reach water sources. When handling, applicators should wear long-sleeved shirts, long pants, shoes plus socks, and chemical-resistant gloves (barrier laminate, butyl rubber, nitrile, neoprene, natural rubber, polyethylene, polyvinyl chloride, or Viton). Avoid application if wind drift is likely or if surface water is present. Do not apply to highly erodible soils unless specific conditions are met, and avoid application if significant rainfall is forecast to occur within 48 hours to prevent runoff.
