Clearigate is a herbicide, algaecide, and cyanobacteriocide designed to control various types of algae and aquatic vegetation. The active ingredient is a mixed copper ethanolamine complex, which provides 0.31 lbs of copper per gallon. It is effective against filamentous algae (thick-walled string algae), misculaginous planktonic algae (colonial), Chara/Nitella, and various submerged plants like Elodea canadensis, Hydrilla verticillata, and Potamogeton spp. It can also be used to control duckweed. The product is intended for use in crop and non-crop irrigation conveyance systems, potable water reservoirs, lakes, farms, fish ponds, golf courses, industrial irrigation, stormwater detention, and wastewater ponds. It is applied via surface spray or injection. Because it contains copper, users must be cautious in areas with fish; specific dosage limits and water treatment protocols apply to prevent toxicity to aquatic organisms. Handling requires specific PPE, including chemical-resistant gloves, protective clothing, and eye protection. Do not apply directly to water where surface water is present or in intertidal areas. Worker safety
