Kudos 27.5 WDG is a plant growth regulator used to manage vegetative growth in various crops, including alfalfa (inter-seeded in corn), apples, grass grown for seed, peanuts, pears, and sweet cherries. The active ingredient is prohexadione-calcium at 27.5%. It works by inhibiting the biosynthesis of gibberellins to reduce shoot growth, which can help manage canopy development, improve light penetration, and reduce the incidence of fire blight in certain crops like apples. Application methods vary by crop, including ground application, aerial application, and orchard sprayers. For apples, it can be used for early season fire blight reduction, growth reduction on medium to high vigor trees, and canopy shaping. For grass grown for seed, it is used to shorten internode length to improve pollination and seed yield. Users should note that mixing with Ammonium Sulfate (AMS) can improve performance, but mixing with calcium can reduce efficacy. It is not for use in California. Always follow specific rate and timing instructions for each crop type to avoid phytotoxicity or reduced efficacy.
