Regard SC is a Group 5 insecticide designed specifically for commercial seed treatment. Its active ingredient is Spinosad (22.5%), consisting of a mixture of spinosyn A and spinosyn D. It is used to protect crops against seedcorn maggot and onion maggot. The product is applied as a seed coating to protect germinating seeds and seedlings. When used, the treated seed must be planted at least 1/2 inch deep using appropriate commercial seeding equipment. A key handling note is that this product is toxic to bees; do not apply to blooming, pollen-shedding, or nectar-producing plants if bees may forage on them. Additionally, avoid application near water or where runoff is likely to occur to protect aquatic invertebrates. For safety, handlers should wear long-sleeved shirts, long pants, and shoes plus socks. Always wash hands thoroughly with soap and water after handling and before eating, drinking, or using the toilet.
