Reflex is a selective herbicide used for the control of certain weeds in cotton, dry beans, populations, snap beans, soybeans, and succulent soybeans (S-gammaxi). The active ingredient is fomafen, which inhibits the enzyme protoporphyrinogen oxidase (PPO) or PROTOX. It is designed for use as a preplant surface, preemergence, and/or postemergence herbicide. The label provides specific guidance for application via ground boom or aircraft, noting that application should avoid windy conditions, temperature inversions, and high wind speeds to prevent spray drift. When using aircraft, specific nozzle and height requirements apply to minimize drift. Users must follow strict safety protocols, including wearing chemical-resistant long-sleeved shirts, long pants, chemical-resistant gloves (barrier laminate or Viton), shoes plus socks, and protective eyewear. The product is corrosive and can cause irreversible eye damage; if contact occurs, rinse eyes immediately with water for 15-20 minutes and seek medical attention. A restricted-entry interval (REI) of 12 hours is required for workers. Always protect non-target organisms and water sources by following drift management instructions and avoiding application near surface water or intertidal areas.
