Sonar RTU is a ready-to-use aquatic weed herbicide designed for use in ponds. The active ingredient is fluridone, which is absorbed by aquatic plants and broken down by sunlight. It is effective for controlling a wide variety of nuisance aquatic weeds, including duckweed, milfoil, hydrilla, coontail, lily, bladderwort, naiad, paragrass, pondweeds, elodea, spatterdock, fanwort, and water-lily. It can also provide partial control for watermeal, alligatorweed, American lotus, southern watergrass, barnyardgrass, spikerush, cattail, tapegrass, giant cutgrass, limnophila, torpedograss, parrotfeather, variable-leaf watermilfoil, creeping waterprimrose, reed canarygrass, waterspurslane, and salvinia. For best results, apply when weeds are actively growing under sunny, dry, and non-windy conditions. The product should be applied directly to the water. For partial control of watermeal, higher application rates are required. Note that trees and shrubs growing in treated water may occasionally develop chlorosis. Do not apply more than 3 quarts of Sonar RTU per acre foot in a single growing season. This product is toxic to plants and may impact non-target organisms like pollinators in adjacent areas.
