Navitrol® DPF is an aquatic herbicide containing 14.0% triclopyr (as triethylamine salt), providing 10.0% acid equivalent. It is designed for the control of emersed, submerged, and floating aquatic weeds, including species such as alligatorweed, American lotus, bladderwort, Eurasian watermilfoil, parrotfeather, pickerelweed, pennywort, smartweed, water chestnut, yellow water lily, white water lily, water primrose, and watershield. The product is intended for use in various aquatic sites like ponds, lakes, reservoirs, marshes, wetlands, impounded rivers, streams, and certain non-irrigation canals or ditches with little to no continuous outflow. Application methods include surface applications using mechanical spreaders and aerial applications via helicopter. Application rates are determined by the desired concentration of triclopyr acid in the water (typically 0.50 to 2.5 ppm a.e.) and the average water depth. Users must follow specific drift management practices, such as avoiding application when wind speeds exceed 10 mph. Note that there are specific restrictions in New York State regarding submersed weeds and swimming/fishing. Always consult local water authorities before use. Handling requires personal protective equipment including long-sleeved shirts, long pants, waterproof gloves, and shoes/boots plus socks.
