Verdict is a selective residual preemergence herbicide used for weed control in field corn (grain, seed, silage), popcorn, processing sweet corn, grain sorghum, and soybean. It contains two active ingredients: saflufenacil (6.24%) and dimethenamid-P (55.04%). The product is designed to control a wide variety of annual broadleaf weeds, annual grasses, and sedges through preemergence application. It can also be used for burndown applications to control certain broadleaf weeds. For best results, ensure application occurs before weed emergence. When used for preemergence, it provides residual control, but users must be mindful of movement by water erosion, as the product can move via surface runoff or through soil into groundwater. Handling requires specific PPE, including long-sleeved shirts, long pants, shoes plus socks, chemical-resistant gloves (barrier laminate, butyl rubber ≥ 14 mils, or nitrile rubber ≥ 14 mils), and protective eyewear. If used in closed systems, engineering controls like closed cabs are recommended. Always follow specific mixing and application instructions to prevent environmental contamination and ensure efficacy.
