Imidan 70-W is an organophosphate insecticide formulated as water-soluble bags. Its active ingredient is Phosmet (70.0%). It is used to control a variety of pests including various worms, beetles, and aphids in agricultural settings such as almonds, apples, apricots, blueberries, cranberries, and more. The product is designed for both indoor and outdoor use, primarily through foliar applications, ground applications, and dormant sprays. Because it is an organophosphate, it is highly toxic; if swallowed, inhaled, or absorbed through the skin, it may be fatal. In case of exposure, contact a poison control center or doctor immediately. Handling requires specific Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including long-sleeved shirts, long pants, chemical-resistant gloves, and sometimes a respirator depending on the application method. Users must follow strict mixing and application instructions to prevent drift and environmental contamination, particularly near water sources. Always check specific crop rates and preharvest intervals (PHI) as they vary significantly by target pest and crop type.
